Pure Zen and the COVID-19 Virus

Naturally people are concerned about the transmission of the Coronavirus in float tanks. We would like to assure our clients that we will do everything we can to help and support you all.

COVID-19 CoronaVirus

In addition to our usual cleaning protocols that occur between float sessions, we are taking extra precaution to protect our floaters.
  • Coronavirus is not water-borne

Coronavirus is not water-borne. Pure Zen's standard filtration and disinfection in your float solution is sufficient.
  • Coronavirus Is Spread By Air

Coronavirus is spread by droplets through the air, for example when someone sneezes, but it does not last in the air.
  • Hard Surface Disinfection

Our existing pre session float tank cleaning protocol is to clean the walls of our tanks, inside and out, and sanitise all surfaces customers are likely to touch (doorknobs, cupboard handles, taps, toilets, etc).
  • EPA recommended disinfectants

Pure Zen uses EPA recommended and registered disinfectants on all hard surfaces.
  • Additional Staff Precautions

Our staff as a practice wash their hands diligently and as an added precaution, will not touch their faces.
  • Float Tanks Are Solitary Experiences

The nature of Float Tanks means there are not groups of people interacting with each other. We will however, maintain our focus on disinfection of hard surfaces and as part of cleaning between float sessions.
  • Sauna Sanitisation

Bacteria and viruses cannot survive in the Infrared sauna as they are sensitive to heat. Our cleaning protocol also cleans and disinfect the interior surfaces of our saunas between sessions.
  • Public Area Sanitisation

Our regular clean protocols involve sanitising all high contact surfaces (handles, light switches, faucets/knobs) with disinfectant spray. This will simply continue.
  • Questions and Concerns

If you have additional questions, please contact us at info@purezen.com.au
The COVID-19 an enveloped virus. The concentration of epsom salt used in our float tanks will provide an inactivation. This virus is not water-borne, it spreads by contact and as such, the water is not the medium of transmission. The virus is NOT transmitted in a pool, hot tub, or float tank.

F.A.Q

COVID-19 Virus
  • Can the COVID-19 virus spread through pools and hot tubs?

There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection of float tanks will remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.
  • Pure Zen is here is to help people manage their stress

Our focus is helping people manage stress, and that has never been truer than during high-stress events we have all experienced in 2020. Our present focus is also to make sure you feel safe in coming to our centre to rest, relax and heal.
  • Epsom salt is inhospitable for bacteria and viruses

Our float tanks contain 550kg of Epsom salt, which is inhospitable for bacteria and viruses. This means the water is a highly inhospitable environment for pathogens. Each tank has a 3-step filtering process and10 micron filter, and ultra-violet (UV) sanitation rendering bacteria and viruses incapable of reproducing and infecting.
  • Roy D. Vore, Ph.D. NSPF® Instructor, CPO® Certification, Certified Pool○Spa Inspector™

This is an enveloped virus. The concentration of salt used will provide a reasonable inactivation but not likely to be complete. But this virus is both spread by contact and inhalation of air-borne droplets; it is not water-borne. As such the water is not the medium of transmission. All float centers should focus on disinfection of hard surfaces including chairs, door knobs, check in counters, and all solid surfaces where someone might place their hand. We should be emphasizing this, rather than testing survival times in the float solution.
  • Pure Zen Cleaning Protocols

Pure Zen follow strict sanitisation protocols that exceed the manufacturer’s sanitation processes, as well as maintaining our centre’s best practice cleaning procedures.
  • Room Sanitisation

After every float sessions our staff disinfect all commonly touched surfaces such as interior surfaces of pods, showers, benches, float tank walls, etc.
